Returning for its third year, Heritage Weekend will again see our historic locomotive and rolling stock fleet combined.
On Saturday trains will be depicting the heritage of the Talyllyn and Corris Railways before preservation with original locomotives and stock in use until late at night to enjoy the evocative atmosphere of the Fathew in darkness!
On Sunday trains will showcase the early years of the Talyllyn Railway Preservation Society with steam and diesel hauled goods trains, including the vital permanent way trains and market day passenger trains that still served the local community using diesel No.5 ‘Midlander’.
This year we will be joined by the CARNOG WORKING HORSES at Abergynolwyn, showcasing work that would have once been carried out at Bryneglwys Quarry – including horse drawn slate waggon demonstrations (subject to availability.)
Friday & Saturday evenings will see talks on preservation pioneer Tom Rolt and on the various tramways that served Abergynolwyn Village & the Bryneglwys Slate Quarry – tickets for which are now available to book.
See the incredible recreation of the original Talyllyn Railway Gunpowder Waggon, which was lost to the cutters torch, undertaken by the Railway’s Young Members Group!
As part of the Railway 200 events programme, the Talyllyn Railway’s Heritage Weekend gives the opportunity to travel in some of the world’s oldest railway carriages still in use, as our original fleet nears its 160th year of operation.
