The nearest mainline railway station is Tywyn, on the Cambrian Coast line, operated by Transport for Wales

The Cambrian Coast line connects at Machynlleth with services between Birmingham/Shrewsbury and Aberystwyth. Most Birmingham – Tywyn trains are through trains.
The Talyllyn Railway’s Wharf Station is approximately 300 yards walk from the National Rail station in Tywyn
– leave the station via platform one and car park, turn right.
If the times of connecting trains are not convenient, buses (see below) can often provide a convenient alternative.

Services 28 and 30 stop in the High Street; proceed inland along the High Street to the war memorial, adjacent to Central Stores (Post Office) and from here turn right and follow Neptune Road to Tywyn Wharf Station,
which is next to the crossroads with the A493.

To reach the main station at Tywyn, travel on the A493 road from Machynlleth to Dolgellau. Approaching from Aberdyfi on the main road Wharf Station is on the left.
Coming from Dolgellau, drive through the town centre past the National Rail station, Wharf station is on the right 300 yards further on. Turn right before the station and follow the parking signs.
Car parking is available across the bridge over the mainline railway.

For customers of the railway ELECTRIC CARS may park for free and utilise one of our four charging points (3 at Wharf Station and 1 at Abergynolwyn). For Tywyn visitors, turn down the railway drive and park by the crossing gate, ask for permission to cross before entering. We kindly ask you to make a donation for this facility if you are able.

Coach parking is available at Tywyn Wharf (100 yards from the station), please contact us to arrange to park. Coach parking is free at Abergynolwyn; coaches may reverse up the station approach to the platform, or park in the lay-by at road level.
